VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan University Executive Director of Athletics Tina Hill has announced Abrianna D'Onofrio as the Athletic Department's new Head Athletic Trainer.
A familiar face within the Marlin athletics department, D'Onofrio has been a part of the VWU athletic training staff since 2016, working as a Graduate Assistant. In 2018, she was elevated to an Outreach Athletic Trainer, working for Virginia Wesleyan as an employee of Sentara Sports Medicine.
"We're thrilled to have Abrianna step up into this role and serve VWU as our Head Athletic Trainer," Tina Hill remarked. "She genuinely cares about the well-being of each of our student-athletes and will lead our sports medicine program with compassion, integrity and professionalism."
Aside from her athletic training duties, D'Onofrio has also provided her services to numerous events and camps in the Hampton Roads area. She has been the lead AT at a number of Marlin summer camps including men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, volleyball and softball. She has also pitched in at local events such as the Virginia Beach Sand Soccer Tournament.
D'Onofrio currently is a member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) and holds certifications in Adobe Connect, Blackboard and WebEx.
"I look forward to continue to make positive improvements within the sports medicine program here," stated D'Onofrio. "Our mission in the athletic training room is to provide the highest quality of care to our student athletes."
A native of Manchester, N.H., D'Onofrio earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at Ithaca College, where she was also the President of the Ithaca Athletic Training Student Association. She then acquired her Masters of Science Athletic Training at Old Dominion University.
