VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Lizzy Ross of the Virginia Wesleyan University women's swim team has been named the Marlin of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 10, 2019.
Ross had a tremendous outing at the Lynchburg Quad meet on Saturday, helping the Marlins to a piar of team wins over Sweet Briar (140-100) and Southern Virginia University (138-81).
The freshmen got things going early as she paced the ten-swimmer 100-yard freestyle race, clocking a time of 58.17. She then placed third in the 100-yard butterfly as she touched the wall in 1:04.50. Both marks eclipsed the current Virginia Wesleyan records, which were set by Ross just one meet ago.
She opened the day with a relay record as well, teaming up with Chloe Dewberry, Kiersten Lee and Kara Young in the 400-yard medley relay. The squad posted a time of 4:38.67, which shaved nearly 38 seconeds off the VWU top time.
Women's swimming returns to action again at 1 p.m. on Saturday as the team hosts Salisbury University for a dual meet.
