Men Take Fifth, Women Eighth at ODACs; Lattuca Nabs ROY Honors

WINCHESTER, Va. – The men's and women's cross country team's performed well at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships Saturday morning at the Kernstown Battlefields. The men claimed fifth place, registering a score of 153 in the 8K race. The women took home eighth with a score of 229.

The highlight of the race was first-year runner Skyler Lattuca who took home sixth with a time of 26:25.7. The time was not only the top Marlin time, but also the top-time for any first year, garnering the Middle Island, N.Y. native Rookie of the Year honors.

Michael Tres was the next Marlin to cross the line for the Marlins, taking 31st with a time of 28:37.1. Not far behind him was Michael Class, whose time of 28:55.2 earned him 36th overall. Rounding out the men's side was Trey Massey in 50th (29:55.4) and Christian Roden in 52nd (30:14.9).

On the women's side, Gina Dontelli was once again the first Marlin to cross the finish line as her time of 25:58.8 was good enough for 35th. Not far behind her was senior Kwonsha Washington who claimed 55th with a time of 27:49.9.

Destiny Kinka would be the next to reach the finish for the Marlins, stopping the clock at 28:17.4 for 61st. The final to scorers for the women's team was Kayleen Meinen in 66th (29:09.7) and Jocelin James in 84th (32:33.3)

The teams will race again next Saturday at the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals which will take place in Mount Berry, Ga.
