FREDERICK, Md. – The men's and women's cross country teams turned out solid performances at the Hood College Invite Saturday morning. The men's team placed second with a score of 99 while the women came home with an eighth place finish.
It was another impressive finish by the Skyler Lattuca as the sophomore nabbed fourth in a field of 113 runners. The sophomore finished with a time of 26:32.4, pacing a 5:20.4 mile over the 8K race.
The other Marlins running the race also performed well as five garnered top-40 finishes. Next to cross the line was Michael Tres, whose time of 27:56.9 earned him 20th overall. He completed the race just under a minute faster than teammate Jordan Sulcer who claimed 27th with a time of 28:40.1. Next to finish for VWU was Michael Class in 35th (29:03.1), Kollin Baer in 37th (29:10.6) and Trey Massey in 39th (29:16.5).
On the women's side, it was Gina Donatelli who collected the top finish for Virginia Wesleyan. The sophomore stopped the clock at 25:21.1 earning her 30th in a race of 104 runners. Not far behind her was senior Kwonsha Washington who claimed 49th with a time of 27:28.7. Destiny Kinka also turned in a solid performance, taking 64th with a time of 28:30.8.
Cross country will now wait until October 27 for their next meet which is the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships which are hosted by Shenandoah.
