Cross Country Teams Have Solid Showing at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University cross country team's had a terrific outing at the Hornet Carrer / Commonwealth Challenge hosted by Shenandoah Saturday morning. The men took home second place as a team while the women finished in seventh on the course that both teams will run on later this season for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships.

Leading the way for the men's side was Skyler Lattuca who, after finishing first in his collegiate running premier three weeks ago, captured third with a time of 26:45.7. Not far behind him was Michael Tres who had the second-best finish of any ODAC runner, placing 10th with a time of 29:07.6. Three other Marlin runners filed in in the top-20 as Kollin Baer took 13th (29:36.0), Mike Class took 14th (29:40.0) and Jordan Sulcer took 17th(29:52.3).

On the women's side, it was Gina Donatelli who crossed the finish line first for the Marlins. The sophomore finished in 25th out of the 75 runner field, posting a time of 26:59.4. A trio of Marlins also claimed top-50 as Destiny Kinka came in 43rd (29:05.1), Kwonsha Washington came in 45th (29.15.3) and Kayleen Meinen came in in 47th (29.16.1).

Both cross country squads will be back in action next Saturday as they head north to Salisbury University for the Don Cathcart Invitational.
