BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University cross country teams had solid outings at the Bridgewater Eagle Cross Country Challenge Friday afternoon. The men's side topped the entire field placing three in the top ten while the women saw success with two runners in the top-20.
Freshman Skyler Lattuca made a big impression in his Marlin debut as he placed first overall with a time of 16:12.26. Not far behind him was a pair of Marlins in Michael Tres and Mike Class, who claimed fourth and ninth. Tres clocked in with a time of 17:23.75 while Class was just 33 seconds behind.
Gina Donatelli crossed the finish line first for the Marlin women, finishing the 4K race in just 19:05.32. The time was good enough for 12th overall. Right behind her was freshman Destiny Kinka who clocked a time of 19:19.15, which placed her 15th in the field.
The cross country squads will compete again soon as the team will head to North Carolina for the Adidas XC Challenge hosted by N.C. State on Sept. 14.
