FOREST, Va. -- Senior Emily Latimer was named the first ODAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Tuesday when the weekly awards were released by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC).
Latimer, a senior from Chesapeake, Va., won the ODAC Preview Meet on Friday with a time of 23:57.81. Her run was almost four minutes faster than the second place finisher. Her time was the second-fastest of her career, trailing a time of 23:49.4 which she ran as a freshman at the Don Cathcart Cross Country Invite on September 28, 2013.
She was instrumental in pacing the Marlins to a team victory in the first meet of the season. Virginia Wesleyan collected 17 points to win the title while Shenandoah University finished second with 55 points and Randolph College rounded out the competitors with 62 points.
The Marlins compete at the Adidas Wolfpack Invitational, hosted by N.C. State, on September 15.
