Women's Swimming Upends Sweet Briar at Home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's swim team downed Sweet Briar, 111-90, at home on Sunday afternoon. This marks the second-straight win for the Marlins this year.

Highlighting the meet were a pair of new school records in the long distance races. Amanda Waller got it going as she bettered her own school record in the 500-yard freestyle by just over one second as she posted a 6:39.13. Taylor Morich then improved upon her own record as well as she clocked a 14:24.75 in the 1000-yard freestyle.

Switching to some shorter races, both Miah Kurtz and Hayley Heath each took home a first place finish. Kurtz topped the field in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 3:00.72, while Heath came in first in the 100-yard free with a time of 1:07.13. Waller claimed first in the 100-yard breaststroke as well, touching the wall at 1:28.00.

Women's swimming will be back in the pool on Dec. 1 as the team heads to Lexington,Va. For the two-day Washington and Lee Invite.
