Women's Swimming Drops Contests at Chowan

MURFRESSBORO, N.C. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's swim team fell in both of its dual meets Saturday afternoon at Chowan University. The team dropped its dual with host Chowan, 183-52, and fell to Pfeiffer University 164-61.

Despite the loss, many of the swimmers churned out solid times. Amanda Waller competed in a plethora events, including a third place finish in the 200-meter IM as she clocked a 3:08.65. The junior also notched fourth places finishes in the 200-meter freestyle (2:46.02) and 100-meter breast (1:38.02).

In the 50-meter breast stroke, Hayley Heath notched the top Marlin time as her 43:87 notched her a fifth-place finish. Sticking with the short distances, Miah Kurtz garnered a fifth-place finish in the 50-meter backstroke as she touched the wall in 45.59.

In the relays, Morgan Lucas, Kurtz, Taylor Morich and Heath teamed up for a third place finish in the 400-meter freestyle. The combo combined for a time of 5:43.09.

Women's swimming will hop back in the pool at 2 p.m. on November 11 as the team hosts Sweet Briar.
