Va. Wesleyan Stays Unbeaten in ODAC with 2-0 Victory

ROANOKE, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan College women's soccer team remains unbeaten in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play with a 2-0 victory over Emory & Henry College Sunday afternoon. The match was played at Hollins University.

Both scores came in the first half for the Marlins as Madison Sanders posted the first score at 23:45. The sophomore forward connected on a shot from the right side and sent it over to the far post where Kayla Wright could not make the save for the 1-0 VWC lead.

The Marlins added an insurance tally at 40:21 when Allie Ketzler sent a long pass up the pitch to Miranda Rupp who beat the goalkeeper for her first collegiate goal and the 2-0 advantage.

Virginia Wesleyan held a 28-3 edge in shots with a 6-1 margin in corner kicks.

Wright finished with 16 saves for Emory & Henry (2-8-2/0-4-1 ODAC) while Megan Gerhart made two stops for the Marlins in picking up her second shutout in as many starts.

Virginia Wesleyan (8-6/6-0) hosts Washington and Lee University (9-2/5-1) Saturday night at 7 p.m. in an important ODAC contest.
