VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2019 season. The squad will compete in 16 games this year including nine on Birdsong Field here in Virginia Beach, Va.
The Marlins begin their 2019 campaign with a pair of home contests starting with Meredith coming to town on Feb. 17. Four days later, the team welcomes Marymount to Virginia Beach.
Its then on to the road for the Marlins, but they won't be going far as the team travels to nearby Christopher Newport University for a match on Feb. 27.
Sliding into March, the team will be back home for three-straight non-conference contests commencing with a tilt against Methodist University on March 2. The following day, the Marlins will square off against DeSales University before finishing the stint with a battle against Widener University on March 9.
Over Spring Break, the Marlins will travel south to Hilton Head, S.C. where they will compete against Hope College.
Upon return, the Marlins will host their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match up as Shenandoah comes to town on March 23. Four days later, the team continues its conference schedule with a game against Bridgewater and round out the month of March with a home contest against Guilford on the 30th.
To kick off April, the Marlins hit the road again, this time to play the Wildcats of Randolph on April 6. The squad remains on the road as it travels to Roanoke one week later. Its back home on Birdsong next for the Marlins as the team hosts Randolph-Macon on April 17. Two days later, the team heads to Washington and Lee for another ODAC contest.
Rounding out the regular season schedule will be an away tilt at Lynchburg on April 24 and finally a home game against Ferrum three days later. The final home game will also serve as the squad's senior night.
