Kingora Tops Field After Day One of Marlin Invitational

ASHOKIE, N.C. - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's golf team had a strong first day at the Marlin Invitional on Saturday played at Beechwood Country Club. The team finished with a team score of 394.

Maggie Kingora had an impressive start to her Spring season as she topped the 21-golfer field after day one. The junior turned a score card of 79, edging Bridgewater's Amanda Kelly by a single stroke. Ringing in the second lowest score for the Marlins was Hannah Turner, whose score card read 96 after the first 18 holes.

Rounding out the squad was Ashlee Bobzin (107), Sarah Conley (112) and Kat Vandenberg (130).

Women's golf will return to the course tomorrow to finish the final day of the Marlin Invite.
