Women Open Competition at ODAC Championship

WINTERGREEN, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Golf Championship started on Sunday with Hannah Turner and Maggie Kingora in action for Virginia Wesleyan.

Turner finished the first round in a tie for ninth with an 87 (+15). She was second among all individuals not tied to a team score, behind Shelby Estes (85, +13), who is currently tied for fourth.

Kingora shot a 94 (+22) on the first day, putting her in 18th position heading into the second round.

Christina Herbert of Bridgewater College leads all individuals after shooting an even-72 in the first round. The Eagles also lead the team competition, shooting a 328 (+40) on the first day, 16 strokes ahead of Washington and Lee for second place.

W&L's Mary Frances Hall (79, +7) and Randolph-Macon's Liza Lewis (81, +9) round out the top three individuals.

Play will continue at Stoney Creek Golf Course in Wintergreen, Virginia on Monday.
