Women's Golf Competes for First Time in School History

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College women's golf team made history on Saturday, competing for the first time as sophomore Hannah Turner and freshman Maggie Kingora took to the course.

Kingora goes down in the record books as the first Marlin to complete a round, shooting an 81 on the round. Turner followed up with a 94 to round out the afternoon.

Kingora finished the round third among individual competitors not tied to a team score, trailing only golfers from James Madison University. She sits in a tie for 15th among all golfers following the first round.

Christina Herbert of Bridgewater College leads the field with a 74 (+2) in the first round. The Eagles led by nine strokes as a team after the first round.

Kingora and Turner will compete in the second round of the Bridgewater Invitational on Sunday.
