TRUJILLO ALTO, PUERTO RICO - The Virginia Wesleyan University women's basketball fell, 63-41, to the University of Mary Washington in Puerto Rico Wednesday afternoon. With the result, the Marlins move to 6-6 on the year.
It was an even opening quarter, with the teams tied 13-13 after 10 minutes of play. Sabrina Jones helped contribute of the bench, scoring five of her seven total points. The Eagles were able to take more of a commanding lead in the second stanza though, pulling away by 10 points. Mary Washington would maaintain that 10 point lead throughout the third, expanding to the win in the final quarter.
Women's basketball returns to the States for their next bit of action, squaring off against Randolph at 7 p.m. on Jan. 2.
