NEW ORELANS, La. - Six members of the Virginia Wesleyan University indoor track teams were named All-South/Southeast Region teams for their performances during the 2018-19 indoor season. Five members from the men's side were named to it including Coby Cockrell, Quentin Webert, Landry Moffo, Curtis Dudley and Aaron Johnson. On the women's side, Jaylyn Lane received the All-Region nod.
Cockrell continued to bolster his accolade collection adding an All-Region honors in the shot put as well as weight throw. Cockrell broke both school records with a mark of 14.61m in the shot put and a 15.06m in the weight throw. He would go on to be named the Field Athlete of the Meet and the Rookie of the Meet at the ODAC Championships. Joining him from the throwers group was Webert, who battled Cockrell all year for the top weight throw mark. The sophomore would finish with a final distance of 14.76m.
Freshman standout Landry Moffo notched his All-region honor in the 60m hurdles. Moffo broke the school record with a time of 8.42 this season at the ODAC Championships. His efforts in the hurdles also assisted the hurdle group for the regional ranking as they are the top ranking as well as 18th in the nation.
For the second year in a row, Dudley again received All-Region recognition for his performance in the 60m dash as he posted a time of 6.97 in the season opener at Christopher Newport.
Johnson showed his depth in the track and field world as he was named All-Region in the Heptathlon. His final score of 3022 was also the top finish in the entire region.
Continuing her freshman year dominance, Jaylyn Lane earned a pair of All-Region honors in both the long jump and the triple jump. Lane jumped a mark of 5.24m in the long jump a the CNU Holiday open and leaped 11.04m in the triple jump at the Captains Inviational.
