FOREST, Va. – Jaylyn Lane of the Virginia Wesleyan University women's indoor track and field team was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Female Field Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 27, 2019. This is Lane's second time being named an ODAC Athlete of the Week as she was named the Track AOW two weeks earlier.
Lane had a tremendous day in the jumping pits for the Marlins beginning with the long jump. The freshman leaped 4.95 meters to take fourth overall and first among Division III competitors. She then nabbed the top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 11.04m.
Aside from her jumps, Lane also anchored the 4x200m relay which used a comeback effort to place first with a time of 1:48.79.
Women's track and field will return to action on Sunday as the team returns to Christopher Newport University for the Vince Brown Invitational.
