FOREST, Va. - Curtis Dudley of the men's track and field team and Jaylyn Lane of the women's track and field team have both received recognition from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference for their performance this past weekend's meet. Dudley earned the ODAC track athlete of the week while Lane nabbed the ODAC field athlete of the week.
Dudley once again opened season in premier fashion as he began his 2018 indoor season with a meet victory in the 60m as he overcame a field of 28 runners to advance to finals where he ran a time of 6.97; this time is good enough to place him 10th in the country amongst D-III competitors and 3rd in the ODAC.
Lane opened her collegiate career with a bang at the CNU Holiday Open. The freshman from Portsmouth, Va. competed in the long jump and triple jump. Her long jump distance of 5.24m was only .09m away from the school record. In the triple jump, she finished with a mark of 11.02m. Both distances were good enough to notch a 2nd place finish in the meet in while also setting the leading mark in the ODAC in both events. Her long jump places her 34th in the country and her triple jump places her at 17th as well. She also competed in the 200m finishing 7th out of 32 with a time of 26.8 which sits her at 2nd in the conference as well as 48th in the country.
Men's and women's track and field will look to continue their momentum in the new year as they travel to Ursinus College for the Collegeville Classic on Jan. 19.
