Coombs Caps Indoor Career With All-America Title

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Marissa Coombs of the women's track and field team earned her fourth All-America title (third indoors) as she placed third in the one mile race Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham Ala.

The senior, was the ninth runner out of ten to get into the finals, ran a tremendous race en route to her All-America crowning. She burst off the starting line, breaking away from the main pack with two others, including the 2018 leader in the race. Coombs hung with the top two for nearly the entire race, never dropping below third place and eventually finishing with a time of 4:56.72. This broke her season best time, which she set the previous day.

Coombs has had a successful final campaign in the indoor track season, claiming seven first places on the year (five in the mile, one in the 800m and one in the DMR). She has also been named the ODAC Female Track Athlete of the Week as well as an All-South/Southeast Region Team member.
