  • Softball Scores 24 in Sweep of Bridgewater

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team picked up a pair of five inning victories over Bridgewater Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Park and Tom & Betty Broyles Field. The squad downed the Eagles 13-0 before securing an 11-3 win in game two. With the wins, the Marlins improve to 18-1 on the season while going to 5-1 in conference play. Bridgewater moves to 13-7 on the year (1-3 ODAC).
  • Softball Splits Road Doubleheader With Macon

    ASHLAND, Va. – The No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team split its doubleheader with No. 24 Randolph-Macon Wednesday afternoon on the road. Virginia Wesleyan took game one by of a score of 1-0 before falling to the Yellow Jackets 5-1 in game two. With the result, the Marlins move to 16-1 on the season and go to 3-1 in conference action. Randolph-Macon goes to 11-4 on the year (1-1 ODAC).
  • ODAC Names Hull Pitcher of the Week

    FOREST, Va. – Hanna Hull of the Virginia Wesleyan University softball team has been named the Pitcher of the Week by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference for the week ending on March 17, 2019. This is the third time this season she has earned this honor and the eighth time in her career.
  • Softball Sweeps Wildcats in Conference Opener

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The No. 1 ranked Virginia Wesleyan University softball team dropped Randolph twice Saturday afternoon at TowneBank Park. The Marlins downed the Wildcats, 10-1 in game one before earning a 4-1 victory in game two. With the results, the Marlins improve to 15-0 on the season and move to 2-0 in conference action. Randolph slides to 9-6-1 on the year (0-2 ODAC).
  • Softball Earns Two Wins in Nationally-Ranked Showdown

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The No. 1 ranked Virginia Wesleyan University softball team took down No. 18 Salisbury University in a pair games Friday afternoon at TowneBank Park. The Marlins dropped the Sea Gulls, 6-4, in game one before edging them 6-1 in game two (ended in 4.5 innings due to rain. With the results, the Marlins improve to 13-0 on the season while Salisbury slides to 9-6.
  • Softball Secures Pair of Victories Over Averett at Home

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The No 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team continued its perfect start to the season as it dropped Averett University in a pair of games Tuesday afternoon at the grand opening of Tom & Betty Broyles Field at TowneBank Park. The Marlins shut out the Cougars, 5-0 in game one before using a comeback effort to defeat Averett 4-1 in game two. With the result, the Marlins improve to 11-0 on the year while Averett drops to 9-6.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team kept its record clean as the team picked up two wins at TowneBank Park and Tom & Betty Broyles Field Saturday afternoon. The team opened up with a 15-0 win over Keuka College and finished the day shutting out Johnson and Wales University 5-0. With the two victories, the Marlins improve to 9-0 on the season.

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team picked up a pair of wins Firday afternoon as it played on the new Tom & Betty Broyles Field at TowneBank Park for the first time in program history. The Marlins dropped Johnson and Wales University 10-0 to start the day and finished up with a 4-0 win over Keuka College. With the results, the Marlins remain undefeated with a record of 7-0.

  • Softball Sees Weekend Schedule Change

    VIRGNIA BEACH, Va. – The Beach Blast Tournament hosted by the Virginia Wesleyan University softball has been cancelled this weekend due to weather and field conditions. The softball team will now be hosting both Keuka College and Johnson & Wales University for a pair of games each at the new TowneBank Park.

    FOREST, Va. – Three Virginia Wesleyan University student-athletes were recognized by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) for their performances over the week. Hanna Hull of the softball team and Andrew Lowe of the baseball team both were named the conference’s Pitchers of the Week while Paul Gladstone earned Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honors.
  • Softball Picks Up Three Wins at Mountain Mash Tournament

    SALEM Va. – In a jam packed Saturday, the No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan University softball team kept its record clean as it picked up three wins at the Mountain Mash in Salem, Va. The Marlins downed SUNY Fredonia, 2-0, to start the day and then defeated Pitt-Bradford 6-2 in game number two. The team then finished off the day with another shutout victory as they defeated Kean University 3-0. With the wins, the Marlins improve to 5-0 on the year.
  • Trio of Marlins Named Earn Weekly ODAC Honors

    FOREST, Va. – A trio of Virginia Wesleyan University student-athletes earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week recognition. Nathan Sheirburn was named the men’s lacrosse Player of the Week while Hanna Hull took home Pitcher of the Week honors and Ariana Rolle Player of the Week.
  • Softball Shuts Out Meredith Twice In Season Opener

    RALEIGH, N.C. – The back-to back defending National Champion Virginia Wesleyan University softball team picked up right where it left off, downing Meredith in both games of a doubleheader Friday afternoon. The Marlins dropped the Angels 15-0 (5 Inn.) in game one before completing the sweep with a 9-0 (5 Inn.) win. With the result the VWU improves to 2-0 on the year while Meredith drops to 0-2.
  • Hull Named to Preseason National Player of the Year List

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Hanna Hull of the Virginia Wesleyan University softball team has been named one of 50 players in all of Division III to the Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Association (NFCA) National Player of the Year watch. This is coming on the heels of her winning the National Player of the Year award in both 2017 and 2018.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Virginia Wesleyan University softball team will start this season exactly like the previous season, ranked No. 1 in Division III. The squad was tabbed the top team in the nation by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, earning the title in unanimous fashion.
  • Hull Named to Preseason All-America List

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Hanna Hull of the Virginia Wesleyan University softball team has been named a Pre-Season First Team All-America selection by Fastpitch News. Hull helped her squad reach the pinnacle of their sport as the Marlins were crowned NCAA Division III National Champions for the second-straight year in 2018.
  • Back-to-Back National Champion Softball Unveils 2019 Slate

    VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Division III National Championship Virginia Wesleyan University softball team will look to defend its crown for another year as the back-to-back national champs have released their slate for the 2019 season. The schedule has 40 games listed with 20 against Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opponents and three against teams ranked in the top-30 of last season’s final national poll.
