Men's Swimming Takes 8th at ODAC Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan University men's swim team had a solid season opener at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Relays hosted by Washington and Lee. The team racked up 31 points for an eighth place finish.

Some of the most success came in the freestyle relays with new school records set in the 400-yard and 200-yard races. David Mosley-Heath, Tyler Strong, Kyle Woolf and Chase McLaughlin teamed up to take 10th overall in the 400-yd with a time of 3:42.16. That same grouping also set the VWU record in the 200-yd clocking in at 1:37.29.

In the fast-paced 8x25yd free style relay, the combination of Matthew Bavuso, Max Currens, Patrick McNeely and McLaughlin clocked in at 1:34.85 which was good enough for sixth place.

The squad also raced in a few hybrid three-person relays including the 3x50-yard breast in which Mosely-Heath, McKneely and Woolf took home a 10th place finish with a time of 1:41.21.

Men's swimming will be return to the pool on Saturday as the team hosts Randolph for its home opener
