Marlins Fall 4-0 to Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va. -- The Randolph-Macon College men's soccer team displayed a strong offensive performance Wednesday afternoon, putting four balls in the back of net to defeat Virginia Wesleyan University.

Randolph-Macon's Christian Torres put the Yellow Jackets on the scoreboard fast with a goal in the fourth minute of play. Bryan Lutz and Peyton Chichester were able to find the back of the net in the first half as well with goals in the 26th and 35th minutes respectively.


Lutz also picked up an assist on in the 63rd minute of play with a precise pass leading to a goal for Peter Nelson.

The Marlins recorded 11 shots on the day while the Yellow Jackets put up a total of 21 of their own. Randolph-Macon (11-1/4-1) also held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Brian Breslin recorded two saves for R-MC while Nick Peterson made five stops and Jamison Auer added two for the Marlins.

Virginia Wesleyan (7-6/2-3) looks to bounce back on Senior Day against Washington and Lee University (7-3-1/2-2) this Saturday for a 7 p.m. home start.
