Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Defensive Struggle with Randolph-Macon
ASHLAND, Va. -- Bryan Lutz scored in the 21st minute for the Randolph-Macon College men's soccer team as the Yellow Jackets downed Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Wednesday afternoon.
Wednesday's match remained scoreless until 21:51 in the first half when Randolph-Macon was awarded a corner kick. Seth Manis took the kick, sending it into the box where Bryan Lutz headed it past Connor Kirkham for his second goal of the season.
The Marlins had an opportunity to tie the contest in the 84th minute when Tanner Martin ripped a shot, but the chance was turned away by the Yellow Jackets' Brian Breslin.
Randolph-Macon (8-5/4-2 ODAC) outshot the Marlins 10-9 with the corner kicks even at four.
Breslin finished with two saves for the Yellow Jackets while Kirkham made three saves for Virginia Wesleyan.
Virginia Wesleyan (5-4-2/2-2-2) travels to Randolph College (6-3-3/3-0-3) Saturday for a 7 p.m. ODAC start.
