HAMPDEN SYDNEY Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team fell, 20-11, to Hampden-Sydndey on the road Wednesday evening. With the loss, the squad falls to 3-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The Tiger move to 8-4 on the season (4-1 ODAC).

Hampden-Sydney got off to an early lead, netting the games first two goals but a Joe Couture goal cut the lead in half at the 9:07 mark. The Tigers put in three more but the Marlins kept to it and eventually Nick Zepko sunk a Tyler Conn pass to make it 5-3 after one period of play. The home team controlled much of the second quarter, scoring seven. VWU did notch one though as Greg Gaetano found the back of the net at the 7:30 mark.

The third stanza was a little more evenly matched with the Tigers putting up three on the board compared to the Marlins two. Va. Wesleyan would command the final quarter, piling in six more but it was not enough.

Couture finished the evening with three goals and four groundballs. Gaetano, Baldwin and Rayman would each finish with two goals.

Cory Austin played all but five minutes in goal for the Marlins, turning aside 15 Tiger shots.

Men's lacrosse will return to action at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday with an away bout at Shenandoah
