ASHOKIE, N.C. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team opened up its spring season with day one of the Marlin Invitational played at Beechwood Country Club. The team turned a day one score of 340.
Keith Cooper registered the Marlins' low scorecard, finishing the day with a 79. The score puts him in a tie for sixth in the 48 player field. Following closely behind Cooper was Taylor Cunningham, who shot an 83. Rounding out the Marlins scores was Noah Phillips (87), Tyler Duncan (91) and Jackson Lyons (92). Chandler Scott also recorded a 95 playing as an individual.
Men's golf will return to the course tomorrow to finish the final day of the Marlin Invite.
