Both Golf Teams Turn In Impressive Scorecards On day One of Marlin Invite

SUFFOLK, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's and women's golf teams hosted the Marlin Invitational at Sleepy Hole Golf Course.

The men's 'A' squad captured the top spot after one round, recording a 303. Leading the way was Kieth Cooper's round of 73 which was the lowest individual round of the tournament. Just one stroke behind him was Kevin Duffy who shot a 74. Rounding out the squad was Carter Morgan's 77 and Jakob Keidel's 84.

On the Virginia wesleyan 'B' team, Peter Scrimgeour nabbed the third best score of the day as he shot 75.

Over on the women's side, Maggie Kingora continued her solid play as her 91 round one was good enough for sixth overall.

Both the men and the women will return to action on Sunday morning as the squads will compete in the final round of the Marlin Invite.
