Marlins Finish Seventh at Tom Kinder Memorial

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan University men's golf team finished seventh at the Tom Kinder Memorial on Monday. Originally scheduled for two days, both rounds of the tournament were played on Monday due to weather concerns.

Carter Morgan led the Marlins with an even-par, 144. He shot a one-over, 73, in the first round before shooting a one-under, 71, in the second round. Morgan finished tied for ninth among all individuals.

Jacob Laughlin finished tied for 17th after shooting a two-round 148 (+4). Keith Cooper (155, +11), Jakob Keidel (155, +11), and Peter Scrimgeour (160, +16) rounded out the Marlin scorecard.

VWU shot a 600 (+24) as a team, five shots back of Maryville College for sixth place. Guilford College won the Tom Kinder with a 560 (-16).

Lance Keiser of Ferrum College won the individual crown with a 132 (-12). Josh Hill of Guilford paced the Quakers with a second place finish (136, -8).

Virginia Wesleyan will compete at the Shenandoah Invitational on September 17-18.
