Men's Basketball Closes Out Regular Season With Road Victory

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team closed out its regular season with a win, downing Randolph, 76-53, on the road. With the win, the Marlins sit at 17-8 overall and 11-5 in conference play. Randolph moves to 6-19 on the season (3-13 ODAC).

After the Wildcats opened up the scoring with a pair of free throws, the Marlins would collect the next eight points. The teams would exchange baskets over the middle ten minutes of play as VWU couldn't get more than a few points ahead. That changed over the last five minutes of play as the Marlins closed out the half on a 14-6 run, holding a 36-26 lead going into the intermission.

The run would continue into the second half as the visiting team scored 10 unanswered over the first two minutes. This 20-point buffer held the remainder of the game, sealing a victory for the Marlins.

R.J. Nicholson led the way offensively for VWU, recording 15 points off the bench. Corey White, Jr. pitched in 14 as well.

Despite not scoring, Keijon Honore did well to distribute the ball, collecting five assists on the day.

Men's basketball will now wait for all conference games to conclude to see where they will be seeded for the upcoming ODAC Championship.
