Slow Start Hinders Men's Basketball in Loss

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Virginia Wesleyan University men's basketball team fell, 79-55, to Washington and Lee Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Marlins move to 13-8 overall and 7-5 in conference play. Washington and Lee improves to 13-8 on the year (8-4 ODAC).

It was a tough go for Virginia Wesleyan as it found itself in a hole quickly, trailing the Generals by double digits midway through the opening stanza. That deficit would hold through the remainder of the game, sending the Marlins to their first loss in three games.

Keijon Honore finished as VWU's top scoring, recording 12 on the day. He was aided by Percy Burt, who cashed in nine.

Burt also did well on the glass, finishing the contest with eight boards. Only Lamont Steward's nine was better.

Men's basketball returns to action at at 7 p.m. on Wednesday as the team hosts Randolph-Macon.
