CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- Washington College scored six first-half goals to defeat Virginia Wesleyan College in Sunday's non-conference field hockey matchup.

The match was scoreless for the first 14 minutes of action, but once Washington started scoring it came in bunches. Elizabeth Davis scored first on an assist by Allison Remenapp. Four minutes later, Jordan Mitchell finished off a rebound for a 2-0 lead at the 18:06 mark.

Mitchell added one more score in the first half as Katie Arnold also scored two in the first 35 minutes of action.

Washington College scored a seventh tally on another goal by Davis off Remenapp's second assist before Virginia Wesleyan could break through.

Trailing 7-0, Alea Weaver found Ashley Parker at 61:26 on a cross into the circle to end the Shorewomen's shutout bid.

Kerrigan Buck made one save for Washington College (3-3) while playing the second half in relief of starting goalie Sadie Robertson. Skye Swain made eight saves for the Marlins.

Virginia Wesleyan (1-5) travels to the No. 15 University of Mary Washington on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. start.
