Q and A with Marlin of the Week Taylor Wilhelm
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Virginia Wesleyan University athletic department showcases a question and answer feature with our Marlin of the Week. The second student-athlete selected this year is field hockey sophomore Taylor Wilhelm.
Wilhelm scored five goals in two games, both victories, this past weekend. She had just one career multi-goal effort prior to her two this weekend. She scored three goals for her first career hat trick in a 7-0 win over Hood. She followed it up with two goals, including the game winner in a 14-0 win over Notre Dame (Md.). The 14 goals set a program record for goals in a game.
1. Why did you choose Virginia Wesleyan University?
I chose Virginia Wesleyan University because the school was a perfect fit for me to spend my next four years. The school's size, location, and atmosphere all matched what I wanted in a school. VWU provides excellent academic and athletic opportunities and allows me to excel in both areas.
2. How did it feel to score 21 goals as a team this past weekend in a pair of wins?
The fact that we scored 21 goals this weekend felt great. It was amazing seeing the entire team work together as a whole to connect on the field and get both wins.
3. What was it like to set a new career high with three goals in Saturday's win over Hood?
Friday’s win over Hood was an exciting game for myself and the team. Scoring three goals felt awesome as my own hard work, and the hard work of the entire team, paid off and allowed us to score.
4. What are your aspirations after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to attend law school to obtain my JD as well as my MBA. Afterwards, I am highly interested in pursuing a career in corporate law or an executive position in a company.
