VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Adam Brooks of the Virginia Wesleyan University baseball team has been named the Marlin of the Week for the week ending on March 10, 2019.
Brooks made the most in both of his appearances on the mound this week, helping the Marlins pick up a pair of key victories.
In the win over No. 17 Salisbury University on Tuesday, teh sophomore had perhaps his best outing of his career. With the Marlins down, Brooks was called to man the rubber in the middle of the sixth inning. He would go on to throw 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing the Marlins to come back and win the game in the 11th inning. Brooks was then called upon for relief again in the team's seocnd game against Bridgewater. Up 5-3 in the seventh, the Chester, Va. native tossed a scoreless final two frames to earn his first save of the year.
Baseball will return to action agains at 3 p.m. on Wednesday as the team hosts No. 4 Christopher Newport University for a single game at Kenneth R. Perry Field.
